Chain Bracelet
This is our collection of statement chain bracelets. They are chunky bronze and silver bracelets that slither around your arm likeย Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent.
Matching detailed design with quality material and durability, these are statement pieces that you will want to wear every day!
The individual chain pieces mean that this bracelet fits around your wrist perfectly, and it can be shortened or lengthened to create different sizes.
We currently have three pieces, one featuring the Midgard Serpent, another the Viking long ship, and the final simpler Nordic designs.
Chain Bracelet Jormungandr
Jormungandr is one of the children of Loki with the giantess Angrboda. The gods so feared the small serpent and his potential that they decided to throw him into the waters surrounding Midgard, where he could do little harm.
But there, the serpent grew to such an enormous size that he can encircle the whole world and hold his own tail in his mouth. This is why he is called the Midgard Serpent, and the name โJormungandrโ also means โearth necklaceโ.
This is a metaphor for what happens when problems are ignored, and Jormungandr represents the things that men and gods fear most.
Jormungandr is only destined to leave his waters at Ragnarok, when he will join in the great fight against the gods. He will fight to the death with Thor, who will kill him with his hammer. But Jormungandr will spew so much poison on to Thor that he too will die within moments.
While Thor knows that he is destined to die when he fight Jormungandr, in true Viking warrior style, he does not shy away from the challenge. He even tries to catch Jormungandr and pull him out of the sea before Ragnarok so that he can face his fate and his fear. He is stopped by his giant companion. In repayment, he throws the giant into the water, where he is presumably eaten by Jormungandr. Many a Viking sailor suffered the same fate.
Jormungandr will also spew huge amounts of venom into the air, poisoning it, and contributing to the overall destruction of existence. Finally, the cosmos will slip back into the waters of chaos from whence it came.
Chain Braceletย Viking Long Ship
The technology of the Vikingsโ ships was superior to that of their neighbors. This is how they were able to sail to the New World in around 1000, more than 500 years before any of their European neighbors.
These ships also have the Vikings an advantage in battles. They could get closer to shore to launch their attacks and also sail down rivers that locals thought protected from sea attack. The Vikings would also sometimes carry their boats across land to find new places to set sail.
Some Viking ships were decorated to look like sea dragons sailing on the waves. This would have been a terrifying sight to see on the horizon!
As far as we know, the Vikings did not have any sophisticated navigational tools, and there is also no evidence that the Vikings used maps. Nevertheless, they explored the high seas more successfully than their neighbors.
The Vikings may have used a symbol like Vegvisir, also known as the Norse Compass, to help them. This is a magical symbol from the Icelandic grimoires that ensures you never lose your way, even if you donโt know where you are going.
You can find Vegvisir in the VKNG collection here.
Chain Braceletย Nordic Design
Norse art styles share a few key elements. It uses geometric shapes to create abstract patterns. It also uses animals, elongating their bodies and twisting them to make elaborate patterns.
Our Nordic design silver chain bracelet uses a bit of both. Each chain piece is an individual geometric shape that looks a bit like a piece of armor. When they are strung together, they look like the tail or backbone of an animal.
While these are modern design pieces made for modern Vikings, these pieces would not look out of place in the Viking world.
