While the Viking axe is often celebrated, the sword was the true prize of Viking warriors, a symbol of status and power. Only those who had proven themselves in battle could afford such a weapon, making it a cherished possession.

In death, a warrior’s sword was often buried with them, but the blade would be intentionally broken to prevent its use by grave robbers, signifying that its task had been completed.

This sterling silver half-sword pendant captures the essence of the Viking sword, with a broken blade that tells of battles fought and victories won. The hilt is adorned with an image of Jormungandr, the fearsome Midgard Serpent, embodying the greatest fears that warriors faced in their lives.
