Description : What does this product represent?

The Vikings' vision of the universe was very different from our own. They believed that there were nine distinct worlds, one for the gods, one for men, one for the frost giants, one for Hel, and so forth. All these worlds were tucked among the roots and branches of Yggdrasil, the tree of life which nourished the universe.

Yggdrasil represented the way that all things were connected through the life force of the tree. It also represented order and protection, as it was Yggdrasil that separated the worlds and prevented the chaos of the giants from bleeding over into the world of men.

Yggdrasil was also linked with fate, which was already written for all men and all gods. The Norns, the fates of Norse mythology, lived at the roots of Yggdrasil and inscribed fate into its bark using the runes.
