Viking Jewelry and Fashion

Jewelry played an important role in Viking fashion.
Wealth was worn as a symbol of the individual's status and wealth.

Most Vikings wore silver or bronze, with only the very wealthy wearing gold.
Jewelry was also used as a form of currency.

When payment was required, a Viking warrior would often break a chunk of precious metal off one of the rings that he was wearing around his arms of necks to make payment.
In this way, a Viking was always prepared.

This chunky sterling silver invokes the Jellinge Norse art style that was popular in Norway between AD 900 and 980.
It is the perfect chain off which to hang a Viking pendant invoking the Norse god or rune that speaks to you most.
